Into the Wild Heart of Þórsmörk Valley
A closer look at your day through Iceland’s spectacular highland wilderness
Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM as we depart from the hotel in our Super Jeeps and journey towards Þórsmörk, one of Iceland’s most beautiful and remote natural areas.
At approximately 9:30 AM, we make a short restroom stop, where a local friend welcomes the group with freshly prepared traditional Icelandic pancakes. After this warm and authentic start to the day, we continue to the Þórsmörk Valley.
To keep the day flowing smoothly, larger parties may be divided into smaller groups. Each group enjoys the same overall program, including a buggy adventure, a visit to Seljalandsfoss and a Super Jeep journey through the highlands, with the experiences arranged in a slightly different order.
The journey into Þórsmörk is an adventure in itself. Surrounded by rugged mountains, glaciers, winding rivers and small birch forests, the valley feels wonderfully secluded and untouched. Travelling in specially equipped Super Jeeps allows us to cross the glacial rivers and explore routes that are inaccessible to ordinary vehicles, guided throughout by experienced highland drivers who know the area and its changing conditions.
The first activities begin at approximately 10:15 AM. Some guests set off on an exciting buggy ride through the dramatic landscape surrounding Gígjökull Glacier, while others continue by Super Jeep to visit the magnificent Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Here, guests can follow the pathway behind the cascading water for a unique perspective of one of Iceland’s most recognisable waterfalls.
At approximately 12:30 PM, all guests meet at the facilities at Básar, in the heart of Þórsmörk, for lunch surrounded by the valley’s extraordinary scenery. The style and arrangement of the lunch can be adapted to the client’s preferences.
At 1:30 PM, the afternoon rotations begin. The remaining guests experience the buggy adventure near Gígjökull Glacier, while the other groups continue exploring Seljalandsfoss and the highlands by Super Jeep. This flexible arrangement ensures that everyone enjoys the same experiences while keeping the day personal, comfortable and well-paced.
At approximately 3:15 PM, the final activities conclude and the return journey to Reykjavík begins.
Expected arrival at the hotel is around 5:15 PM.
Restroom stops are available throughout the day, including the morning comfort stop and facilities at the buggy base and Básar.
Please note that the exact order and timing of the activities may be adjusted according to group size, weather, river levels and highland driving conditions.

Super Jeeps
The most premium way to reach Iceland's wildest places
Nowhere else in the world will you find vehicles quite like these. Our Super Jeeps are the result of decades of innovation, engineered and continuously adapted for Iceland’s extreme and ever-changing conditions.
Built on powerful foundations and heavily modified for off-road performance, these vehicles are designed to handle glacial rivers, volcanic terrain, mountain tracks, and remote highland routes that are inaccessible to standard transport.
Originally developed from modified trucks and expedition vehicles, today’s Super Jeeps represent the perfect balance of strength, safety, and comfort. They allow us to travel deeper into Iceland’s wilderness, reaching landscapes that feel untouched and raw—far beyond the reach of conventional tourism.
This is not just transport. It is part of the adventure itself.
Seljarlandfoss Waterfall
Walk behind a curtain of falling water
Seljalandsfoss offers an experience that goes far beyond simply viewing a waterfall. The Seljalandsá River drops approximately 60 metres from a towering cliff, forming an elegant curtain of water that appears to float against the surrounding green landscape.
What makes Seljalandsfoss truly remarkable is the pathway that curves behind the cascade. When conditions allow, guests can step into the mist and experience the waterfall from an entirely different perspective, looking out at the landscape through a shimmering veil of falling water.
From the thunderous sound of the water to the cool spray in the air and the constantly changing light, every angle reveals something new. Expect an immersive encounter with Icelandic nature, spectacular photo opportunities and a moment that feels even more extraordinary than it looks in pictures.

The Valley of Thor
A hidden highland world shaped by glaciers, rivers and green valleys
The journey into Þórsmörk is part of its magic. From the comfort of a specially equipped Super Jeep, guests leave the familiar roads behind and follow rugged tracks across wide riverbeds and flowing glacial streams. With every crossing, the landscape becomes greener, wilder and more secluded, until the valley opens between towering mountains and vast glaciers.
Once a fjord around 12,000 years ago, Þórsmörk has been transformed by ice, water and volcanic forces. Outlet glaciers descend into narrow gullies, feeding the rivers that weave through the valley, while moss-covered ridges, birch woodland and hidden glacial lagoons create an ever-changing landscape.
Travelling deeper into the valley feels like entering another world. Guests can expect sweeping views, dramatic contrasts and moments of complete stillness, surrounded by scenery inaccessible to ordinary vehicles. The landscape is so cinematic that parts of the Þórsmörk area have also appeared in Game of Thrones.
